Art on the Path

I spent a lovely day last week responding to the surroundings of the coast path alongside two other artists.

Brenda Jet working with found materials making ephemeral land art and Martin Winfield working with sound.

I made a concertina drawing as I walked up and down along a section of the path responding to different elements of my surroundings using a variety of mixed media and mark making processes.

I worked on three sections individually in situ and then put them together when I got home. I like how the final juxtaposition of elements works. I also like how the linear nature of the concertina suggests a journeying or moving through the landscape.

I'm really enjoying the freshness and immediacy of the work I've made outside in situ over the past months and it was so lovely to enjoy the company of some fellow creatives for this mini day project.
