Hedges 3 Ways

As the year draws to a close I am reflecting upon the various directions that my art practice has take over the last twelve months.

Having relocated to the West Country a little over five years ago I feel that in 2023 I have found my creative “muse” within its ancient hedgerows and sunken lanes. People are beginning to refer to me as “the hedge lady” and never before have I been “known” for making work in response to anything so specific. I have really found a consistency here - which is exciting!

So without sounding too cliched within this welcome limitation of subject matter there is also so much freedom to explore.

Having spent some time over the Christmas break updating my website and in particular adding that which is “current” it is clear that there are three main strands emerging in terms of process and approach all of which need and deserve a lot more time and practical input to creatively develop.

It is great to go into a new year “knowing what I am about” as it were and I’m really looking forward to taking my work forwards in these three directions in 2024.

I have chosen some examples from each "Way" below:

Ancient Ways

Hedgeways
