As I round off the Renewal Series of paintings the colours and forms for which are taken both consciously and subconsciously from my immediate surroundings of paddocks, pastures, fields and hedgerows. It is really interesting to note just how much this final one (No 5.) has quite unintentionally absorbed the colours from the garden just outside my studio. A fact further emphasised by photographing it in situ.
This might possibly be the result of spending more time in the studio of late finishing off work, updating notebooks, stretching canvases and preparing new surfaces to work on. I've also had some end of the season garden jobs to catch up on and have not been spending as much time in the fields walking and drawing.
