On St Valentine's Day we took a trip to Lostwithiel and walked a few miles quite coincidentally along part of the Saints' Way an ancient trail that crosses mid-Cornwall from coast to coast. I was of course in my element taking lots of reference photos to use in my work.
Back at home I printed out a selection to make a collaged composition from which to work. I find this process to be a great starting point for me.
I then made an "overlay" by painting over the top of the collage which resulted in a really atmospheric response to the place. Note the suggestion of a cross hidden in there somewhere...
Below is a second collage and overlay made from imagery shared in a previous blog post. I think this process is really effective although I feel it needs to be taken a step further and at this stage I'm not quite sure how!
Below further collages awaiting further development. The first is again in response to The Saints' Way.
